There’s no denying that Madison has the best of the world wrapped up in one gorgeous city. And that’s the way we like it. That also makes it difficult to ignore a restaurant that goes by the name Madison’s (as if it’s our city’s own favorite).

Madison’s isn’t a college bar, but it’s not exactly fine dining either. This restaurant falls somewhere in the middle with terrific food and fabulous service. There’s a definite Midwest sports bar appeal to the place, as if it were a neighborhood establishment.

The menu isn’t huge; there’s a fair amount of appetizers and light plates including Poutine and Brisket Sliders. The entrée menu features burgers, fish tacos, and delish Winter Squash Carbonara. But, you absolutely need to try the tots when you come to Madison’s. Both the Beer Cheese Brat Tots and the Truffle Tots receive high acclaim from reviewers (and that’s impressive for potatoes anywhere).

Reviewers rave about the Friday Night Fish Fry and the specials. Happy hour lasts from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. every Monday through Friday and offers 25percent off appetizers (though not those gorgeous Beer Cheese Brat Tots), $3 draft beers, and a few other drink specials too.

The restaurant transforms into a downtown night time establishment with dancing and local DJs, so if you’re after a family meal, you’ll want to give this restaurant a try on Saturday or Sunday mornings when they open at 10:00 a.m. for brunch. (And then, you’ll want to try the Grilled Brat Skillet.)

Madison’s is open from 4:00 p.m. until 2:00 a.m. on Mondays through Fridays. You can pull in on Saturdays between 10:00 a.m. until their 2:00 a.m. closing bell. On Sundays, brunch is served between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., though the hours are seasonal, so you may want to call ahead on (608) 229-0900. You’ll also find menus on the website, or you can just head to the restaurant at 119 King Street.
