Mt. Horeb, 15 mins west of Verona on US 151, calls itself the “Troll Capital of the World”. But its citizens are friendly, decent folk –- not a troll or ogre among them. The name is for the carved wood statues of the mythical beings scattered along the length of main street, affectionately dubbed “The Trollway”. Founded by Norwegians in the first half of the 1800's, the city kept some of the more whimsical parts of its Scandinavian heritage while forging a tight-knit and still growing community.
