Art Gallery

Discovering the art of Madison can be quite a bit of fun. The galleries and museums are plentiful throughout the area. Whether you're new to the city or just have yet to get out and discover the art, it's time to do so. Here are some of the galleries and museums you can enjoy.

Artisan Gallery - 6858 Paoli Road, Paoli

This gallery has been around since 1987 and provides some of the finest art in the area. They have a reputation for the largest collection in Wisconsin with over 100 artists on display. They are found to the southwest of Madison in the historic town of Paoli. The gallery is open from 10am to 5pm Tuesday through Sunday and provides extended hours around the holidays.

Chazen Museum of Art - 750 University Avenue, Madison

The Chazen Museum of Art is one of the best choices for art in the Madison area. They provide two buildings called the Conrad A. Elvehjem Building and the Harry Weese building. Combined, these two buildings provide more than 170,000 square feet of art. The museum provides plenty of Docent Tours each month and is open from 9am to 5pm Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. They are also open from 9am to 9pm on Thursdays and from 11am to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday.

James Watrous Gallery - 201 State Street, Madison

With a focus on contemporary artists form Wisconsin, this gallery provides plenty of great exhibits throughout the year. It's free and open to the public. The gallery is found on the 3rd floor of the Overture Center for the Arts in downtown Madison.
