Middleton is a perfect place to visit if wanting to take in some historical architecture, and learn about the history of the area. A majority of businesses in Middleton are housed in historical locations. In addition, there are a variety of historical homes in Middleton as well, which will give you a great glimpse into the past.

You can visit The Middleton Area Historical Society, or The Middleton Landmarks Commission website to get more information about this historic area. When in the Middleton area, stop by and see some of these historical buildings.

Blacksmith Shop – 2645 Branch Street

At this time, this shop is not open for public tours. However, you can view this structure from the outside, and still get a vivid picture of what it was once like. The shop was built in the 1850s, and catered to the blacksmith needs for those staying at the Stamm House.

Club Tavern – 1915 Branch Street

Construction of the Club Tavern took place sometime between 1860 and1880. This was a boarding home and stable for the Stamm House Club Tavern, which opened in 1921. Club Tavern is now the largest bar in Middleton, and provides a family fun atmosphere for dining. Music is offered every Wednesday – Saturday. There are also Badger pre and post-game specials, as well as a shuttle service.

Duplex – 1720 Aurora Street

The Duplex once served as Union Church, and was constructed in 1870. The Duplex cost a total of $1,800 to build, and its main purpose was a house of worship for German Methodists and Baptists. Years later it was turned into an American Legion gathering place.
