Madison, WI is a very active city with great sports and recreational opportunities. If you love a city with great attractions, Madison is the right place. It’s basically the mecca for recreational opportunities since the four seasons offers such a variety of interests. In the winter you can enjoy skating and skiing while the summer brings swimming in the lakes. Here is a look at what you’ll find Madison residents enjoying all year round.

There are four premiere public golf courses in Madison. Glenway, Monona, Odana Hills and Yahara Hills offer some of the best golfing experiences. Check out Vitense Golfland for miniature golf both indoors and out plus they offer a climbing wall, batting cages and a place to grab lunch. University Ridge Golf Course is available as well and has been voted the best of Madison by Madison Magazine.

Madison Fishing Charters

In the Madison Area Lakes you can enjoy Madison Fishing Charters. These charters take groups of people to enjoy fishing in the chain of lakes for a variety of fish species. All skill levels are welcome and Captain Joe Okada offers a great experience.

Along with fishing charters, residents love to rent boats for the day from places like Wingra Boats, SkipperBud’s and Brittingham Boats.

There are tons of biking and hiking trails. You’ll love the over 260 parks and beaches offering the best backdrops to the experience as well. There are more than 120 miles of biking and hiking trails and the city actually has more bikes than cars.

Check out the Budget Bicycle Center to rent a bike for the day, week or month or try Madison B-Cycle, the urban bike-sharing program. Check out Machinery Row Bicycles on Lake Monona for kids’ bikes, bike path bikes and road bikes.

You’ll also see locals enjoy bowling, skiing at Devil’s Head Resort, or enjoying sports like hockey, soccer and tennis. It’s a great city for the active.
