With a long history on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus, Babcock Hall Dairy Plant and Store is a very popular spot. It's rated as the top restaurant in Madison on Trip Advisor with 103 reviews and has been given the Certificate of Excellence.
The plant was built in 1051 and is known as the oldest university dairy building in the country. With plenty of signature products produced for both the university and the community. The store helps to support the UW Food Science Department with their mission of teaching, research and outreach.
Babcock Hall is most-know for the ice cream, but they also provide many award-winning cheese and bottled milk products. Here's what you can expect when you come into the store.
The Ice Cream
You will find ice cream in many different flavors from Bec-Key Lime Pie to Lemon Bar to Salted Caramel Toffee and many more. They also provide sherbet, frozen yogurt and many other treats.
The Menu
Babcock Hall provides breakfast and lunch with plenty of options. You can choose from one of the many breakfast sandwiches and pair it with excellent coffee to start the day. Lunch provides a choice of many great sandwiches made to order.
The menu also includes a soup of the day, which can range from meat chili to tomato basil raviolini and many other options. The menu also includes a special each week for lunch.
Tours
Along with eating at Babcock Hall, you can take a tour to observe the way they make their products. Tours range from $1.75 to $3 and they are available Monday through Saturday at specific times.

Babcock Hall Dairy Store is found at 1605 Linden Drive in Madison. They are open from 7:30am to 5:30pm, Monday through Friday and from 11am to 4pm on Saturdays.
