I'm pleased to announce that after two weeks of enduring a steep learning curve for video editing, a variety of technical issues and glitches, and a fair degree of performance anxiety, I'm finally ready to kick off our new monthly housing update! It's dubbed The Madison Market Update because it's focused on the residential Madison WI real estate market.

In today's premier edition of the Madison Market Update you'll find highlights of the Madison housing market year-to-date with comparisons to last year using measures such as sales volume, average prices, average days on market and more. The Madison Market Update will be updated monthly and you'll have access to all the charts and graphs discussed in each edition via our Madison Market Statistics page and related market data pages (e.g. our Madison Condo Statistics page).

So, without further ado, please enjoy our first video blog post and whatever you do, don't forget to comment. We want to know what you think about the Madison WI housing market and how you like our new format!

To speak to a licensed Realtor specializing in Madison area real estate, please visit www.lakeandcityhomes.com or call broker|owner Jolenta Averill at 608.628.9701 today!

Jolenta! I am so excited and impressed with your vlog! It was clear, concise and was a wealth of information! I am thankful that there are Realtors who take the time to KNOW their market and then are willing to share it with the community FOR FREE, just because! These are murky waters to be sure, and I am pleased to know you are there!

Way to go girl! Hope to see a lot more updates in this format.

Very cool! Congrats Jolenta! I would head to the Shack and get a mic. They are pretty cheap and help a lot with the audio. Is that audio royalty free :)

Nice job, Jolenta! I watched the entire thing and I'm not even in the market for a home in Madison. (In other words, I didn't yawn - not once. LOL!) The video makes your website so much more personable and people can get an idea of who they'll be dealing with if they haven't yet met you. I see it as only a plus. I sure wouldn't mind living in that area; I grew up north of Chicago and spent a lot of time in Wisconsin. There's so much to do year-around, and it's so beautiful too!

Excellent video! You are very camera friendly, and you looked very confident, which is hard to do. I would also agree with Shane, the audio is a little off, but other then that great vid! Keep them coming. :)

Jolenta: I saw you say on Twitter you were embarrased. I guess it's hard to watch yourself but thought it was incredibly well done! Yes, I agree with audio but no biggie -- and that's why you do this more than once. And knowing where you are dominating/will dominate the market, Maybe some reports can be Mendota-centric (Blackhawk, Bishops Bay etc... included). Happy to try to work out the angles if that's interesting. Well done and looking forward to the next go at it...

Is it called a vlog?...thats fitting I suppose. Its great...really impressive. I'm jealous cause I don't know how to do this, much less put in the charts and stuff. The camera loves you baby!

Well done, Jolenta. As many others have said, I think a microphone will aid you in getting your message out more clearly. I imagine the initial work done on this first edition of the Madison Market Update may leave you wondering if the investment of time is worth it. If this is something that you believe will draw in more viewers, then I say go for it. Find ways to streamline the creation process so the time invested gradually decreases. Come up with a process for making it, try it out, and tweak it as you go along. It's encouraging to see agents adapt to technology! Keep it up.

Hey Jolenta,
Very professional! The only caveat I have is that the sound quality could be improved. I will direct any who are interested in buying or selling a property in this area to your site. I think you are on the right track.

Hey everybody, Thanks so much for your outstanding feedback! I really appreciate all your support and input. So, the consensus seems to be that the audio could be improved, therefore intensifying my efforts to figure that piece out. Looks like I'll be on the hunt for an external mic to hook up to my camera. If my camera (a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3) doesn't have the ability to accept an external mic, well then it looks like I'll have a great excuse to get a new video camcorder! So thanks again for watching and commenting and please stay tuned. Hopefully the audio on my next video endeavor will be much improved! Best, Jolenta

Very cool Jolenta! I have always said you have the best web site for real estate I have ever seen. It is fantastic for people to actually see the trend and not just hear about it. Once again, you outshine the rest.

Excellent video. You rocked it. To echo other comments, you're certainly camera friendly, clear, and I wasn't bothered by the audio, but maybe I'm inured to audio quality thanks to youtube in general. I liked the editing, bumper music, the slowly moving graphs (far better than static) and think it was about the right length. I keep thinking that this is the equivalent to the local weather report. You, standing in front of a green screen, pointing at a graph details and maps, forecasting the real estate weather in our area. Great job.

Great Video Post. I also like the way you added all the graphics & music on the video :). I might just need to take some video editing classes.
