It’s funny how when you live with something long enough you begin taking it for granted. I think our amazing lakes are one of those things. It’s not until we’re faced with a special occasion or we have out-of-town guests that we think about dinner-with-a-view, and that’s a shame. So, for your Mother’s Day weekend planning, we bring you a short list of some of Madison’s favorite waterfront eateries.
Sardine - 617 Williamson Street
The views of Lake Monona are only rivaled by what you’ll see when you open the menu at Sardine. Brunch here is yummy (try the Belgian waffle) and dinner is très French with an American spin. Make reservations by calling 441-1600, and view the menu online.
Waypoint Public House - 320 W Broadway
Lunch in Menona just doesn’t get any better than the comfort food at Waypoint Public House. Try the grilled cheese sandwich (it’s stuffed with sautéed mushrooms!) and you can’t go wrong with Waypoint’s tenderloin poutine. The brunch menu offers tasty traditions like eggs Benedict, huevos rancheros and more.
Mariner’s Inn ― 5339 Lighthouse Bay Dr.
A Madison staple for 50 years, Mariner’s Inn offers steaks and seafood but it’s the view that brings in the locals. They’re serving Mother’s Day brunch from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. so call (608)246-3120 and reserve your spot. Check out the menu online here.
The Statehouse - Inside The Edgewater
I love the view of Lake Mendota from The Statehouse. You can visit for breakfast, lunch or dinner, seven days a week or just pop in for a cocktail at the bar. Downstairs you’ll find The Boathouse, at lake level. Visit the Edgewater’s website to learn more about both.
Paisan's Restaurant - 131 West Wilson Street
With beautiful views of Lake Monona, Paisan's is a great spot for pizza, sandwiches, pasta and salads. They provide plenty of excellent choices and an atmosphere perfect for the entire family.
