For golfers, it’s a no-brainer to buy a home on or near a favorite golf course. But golf course living attracts non-golfers as well. In fact, only 25 percent of golf course homebuyers join the club on which they live, according to David Koeppel with the The Fiscal Times. Can you blame them? Golf course scenery can be breathtaking and it’s always well-maintained.
We’re rather proud of our golf courses and communities here in Madison, so today we dive into part II of Life on Madison’s Fabulous Golf Courses. (Read part I here.)
Glenway Golf Course
A 9-hole, par-32 executive course, Glenway Golf Course features small greens and gorgeous fairways. Because it’s a muni course, you’ll find amazingly low green fees but challenge enough for even the most experienced golfer. The course, located on Madison’s near west side, first opened in 1927 and offers ADA-compliant carts, lessons and lots of chances to participate in tournaments.
Homes near Glenway are located primarily in the Westmorland neighborhood where you’ll find an array of architectural styles including lots of ranch-style homes. For the best view of the golf course, look for homes for sale on Glenway St. a quiet, tree-lined strip that separates the homes from the fairways.
There are currently 10 homes for sale in the Westmorland neighborhood, ranging in price from $259,900 to $540,000. See these homes by clicking here.
Blackhawk Country Club
Golf with a view is what Blackhawk is known for. An impeccably maintained private course, it offers 6,193 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. The developers couldn’t have chosen a more idyllic site for this track – in the Village of Shorewood Hills, on Lake Mendota with a backdrop of majestic tree-studded countryside.
If you want to live on this gorgeous golf course your best bet is to look at homes for sale in the Village of Shorewood Hills. Known for its diverse housing stock you will find classic Tudor-style homes as well as more modern architecture. To live close to the clubhouse, search for homes for sale along Blackhawk Drive or the lower sections of Sunset Dr. and Topping Rd. On the opposite side of the course (to the west), Merrill Springs Rd. offers golf course fronted homes.
There are currently nine homes for sale in the Village of Shorewood Hills, priced from $449,900 to $1,150,000.
Hawk’s Landing Golf Course
Madison offers a variety of options for golfers of all skill levels and budgets. Hawk’s Landing, in Verona, is a semi-private, 18-hole course with 7,165 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. Hawk’s Landing also offers a pool and tennis club memberships and dining overlooking the golf course. The course and club opened in 2001 and homes along its fringes are quite popular.
The first thing you’ll notice when you play the course, though, is how well it’s designed and the amount of thought that went into the layout. Some of the holes here are quite challenging.
What isn’t a challenge, however, is deciding to buy a home near this lovely course. Choose from condos or single-family homes, some located along the fairways. You’ll currently find 12 homes for sale near Hawk’s Landing, priced from $459,900 to $990,000. The homes along Windy Point Ave. are the closest to the clubhouse while those on Redtail Dr. bisect the course.
We’re happy to show you any of the lovely homes for sale on any of Madison’s fabulous golf courses.
