Wow – it’s June already! The kids will be out of school soon and summer will be heating up. There are lots of ways to get out and enjoy Madison, so circle some dates.

WIAA Boys Individual Tennis State Tournament
Come cheer on your favorite athlete in the High School State Championships! It happens at Nielsen Tennis Stadium, Near West Side (1000 Highland Ave.). Get details by calling 715-344-8580.

Friends of Olin-Turville: Spring Concert Series
A family-friendly event, the spring concerts at Olin Turville Park (1156 Olin-Turville Ct.) start at 6 p.m. and typically wrap up at around 8 p.m. You’re welcome to bring a picnic as you enjoy some amazing music. And, admission is free.

June 2
The Second City Summer Blockbuster
Chicago’s Second City ensemble is in town to make you laugh with sketch comedy and improve. Remember, some of the greats got their start with Second City, including John Belushi, Mike Myers, Martin Short and Steve Carrell. The show is for mature audiences only and it starts at 8 p.m. at Overture Centre for the Arts. Learn more online at overture.org.
Summer Movie Series: The Avengers
What do you get when you invite Iron Man, Captain America, the Hulk and Thor to join forces to battle evil? The Avengers, and the movie is rated PG 13. Catch it at 7 p.m. or 10 p.m. downtown at the Orpheum Theater (216 State St.). Admission is $8
Then, on June 4, catch Disney's animated sensation “Zootopia!” Rated PG, showtimes are at 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

Festa Italia
You are invited to mangia bene at the Festa Italia at McKee Farms Park (2930 Chapel Valley Rd. in Fitchburg). Not only will there be amazing food, but cultural exhibits, live music, cooking demonstrations, Italian folk dancing, a magic show, kids’ activities and more.
It happens from 5:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. and admission is only $2 per day.
June 3
11th Annual Cars on State
A summer tradition in Madison, the annual Cars on State event is set to go on June 3. Taking up six blocks of State Street, bring the family to enjoy cars from the past, then shop and dine downtown. It’ll happen from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., rain or shine.
June 5
History on State: A Circus Celebration
Admission is free for the History on State celebration where you can laugh with clowns, witness amazing juggling and more. This circus celebration takes place on the stages next to the Wisconsin Veterans Museum at 100 N. State St. from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
June 9
Madison Night Market
A celebration of our city’s creative culture, Madison Night Market is the place to be to find handmade items, art from local artists, live music, fresh produce and more. It starts at 6 p.m. and will run until 11 p.m. at Lisa Link Peace Park (where State Street meets Gilman Street) and throughout the downtown district.

Marquette Waterfront Festival
Yahara Place Park is the site of this year’s Marquette Waterfront Festival. Enjoy the Dandelion Dash 5k, a canoe parade, live music on two stages, lots of stuff for the kids to do and plenty of food and beverages. Admission is free and you’ll find details online, here.

The 2017 Ironman® Triathlon
Originating in Waikiki in 1970, the IRONMAN Triathlon went global 20 years later and it’s one of Madison’s most popular athletic events. Ours offers 40 qualifying slots for the 2018 IRONMAN World Championship in gorgeous, historic Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. Here in Madison, the race starts with a 1.2-mile swim in Lake Monona, then they'll bike 56 miles through Dane County and wrap it up with a 13.1-mile run along the shores of Lake Monona. If you'd like to spectate, be at Lake Monona by 7 a.m. Details are available here.

Isthmus Jazz Festival
It’s the annual free jazz festival that traditionally kicks off the summer season. Held at UW Madison’s Memorial Union Terrace, folks come from all over to hear everything from big-band to Dixieland and more. Terence Blanchard is the headliner this year. June 19 – June 25
PGA Champions Tour
Head out to University Ridge Golf Course at 9002 County Rd. on Madison’s West Side to catch some of the most famous names in golf. Nick Faldo, John Daly, Bernhard Langer, Fred Couples, Jeff Maggert and others will be vying for the American Family Insurance Championship. Darius Rucker will perform on the 23rd. Concerts on the Square®
This is the night! Concerts on the Square® kicks off tonight and runs until August 2. Every Wednesday you can enjoy a different musical sensation. Head downtown to Capitol Square with a blanket to sit on and bring a cooler. Or, you can munch on what you purchase from local food vendors. Get details online at wisconsinchamberorchestra.org.
